MTU Maintenance Zhuhai Secures MRO Contract with ANA All Nippon Airways for 100 CFM56-7B Engines

Zhuhai, March 17, 2025 — MTU Maintenance Zhuhai has signed a comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) contract with All Nippon Airways (ANA) for servicing the CFM56-7B engines used in ANA's 47 Boeing 737NG aircraft. This agreement extends their collaboration until 2032 and covers approximately 100 engines from ANA’s fleet.

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai is a joint venture between Germany's MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Airlines, specializing in narrowbody engine MRO, including CFM56-5B/7B, LEAP-1A/1B, Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G-JM, and IAE's V2500 engines.



ANA's Vice President of Global Supplier Relations & Planning, Hideaki Honda, acknowledges the ongoing collaboration with MTU, noting the recent milestone of their 25,000th shop visit at the Hannover facility for CF6-80C2 engine maintenance. Honda emphasizes the benefits of MTU’s expertise and its strategic location relative to ANA’s operations.

Martin Friis-Petersen, Senior VP of MRO Programs at MTU Aero Engines, highlights the significance of the contract within MTU's global network, demonstrating its integration within the MRO industry.

Gert Wagner, President and CEO of MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, points out the facility's specialization in CFM56-7B engines and expresses confidence in meeting ANA's MRO needs effectively.



Since the early 2000s, MTU Maintenance has handled over 3,000 shop visits for the CFM56 market, maintaining a 10-percent market share on the CFM56-7B engine type as of 2024. MTU's global operations include facilities in Berlin-Brandenburg, Hannover, São Paulo, and Dallas, equipped with ON-SITE Plus services and performance testing capabilities for the CFM56-7B.
